Berkem has always been focusing on sustainable development with particular attention to the environment and the health of its partners.

This commitment is highlighted by the international environmental and safety certifications UNI EN ISO 14001:2015 and 45001:2018 obtained and focused on showing an eco-friendly production which favors low environmental impact.

This awareness involves using the best practices for the good of the company and the surrounding environment in order to reduce the environmental impact of production by creating plans for reducing consumption focused on greater efficiency both in terms of energy and performance.

Among the various actions we mention

  • Packaging

    The recycling of packaging cardboard when preparing the parcels for shipments thanks to which the classic protective plastic materials have been replaced

  • Printing policy

    The implementation of a cautious printing policy, providing as much online information as possible and storing the user manuals of the machines on USB drives

  • Plastic

    Reduction of plastic packaging consumption by up to 98% and for daily internal use by 99% (water bottles, glasses and other disposable items)

  • Technology

    Use of remote desktop technology in order to reduce the hardware obsolescence of individual PCs by 300% by investing in the software part

  • Waste

    Reduction by 98% of the production waste volume with consequent recycling and reuse of extracted and purified water

  • Energy

    The reduction of energy and electrical consumption by providing industry 4.0 devices in order to optimize the switching on of electrical devices at time slots, reducing consumption by about 30% compared to normal positioning in standby, the exclusive use of energy saver monitors, the replacement of the old plants with new low energy impact equipment

RJC

Responsible Jewellery Council - RJC

In 2019 Berkem became a certified member of the Responsible Jewellery Council, an international non-profit Organization that brings together companies operating in the jewellery sector focused on building a responsible supply chain for diamonds, gold, colored stones, silver and platinum “from the mine to the consumer “.

The RJC has finalized a reference standard for the industry, and a RJC Code based on established international principles in order to promote responsible business standards and practices.

CoP RJC Certificate

In December 2022, Berkem obtained the RJC Chain of Custody (CoC) certification. This is a voluntary certification for RJC members and gives our customers and suppliers the assurance they need about how precious metals are purchased, tracked and processed through the supply chain. It provides a guarantee of the integrity of our products and materials.

Berkem offers a special line of precious plating solutions, salts and precious compounds obtained from 100% recycled and RJC CoC compliant metals.

CoC RJC Certificate

Certified companies demonstrate that they work ethically, respecting human rights, and protecting the environment all according to good management practices.
